This essay is part of Radical Christian Voices & Practice, an academic festschrift honoring our friend Dr. Christopher Rowland, a leading historian and theologian of radical Christian movements based in England.  My essay looks at how Luke's story of the so-called "unfaithful steward" is actually about someone who realizes he is caught in a socio-economic system of oppression, and who defects to the older relational economy of grace and mutual aid.  Includes reflections on serveral different modern economic philosophers who, in varying ways, called for a more relational economy.  18 book pages.
