Christian Peacemaker Teams: A Conversation on Peace, Justice and Oppression

(Recorded Feb 11, 2014).
What does peacemaking look like in practice? How does a community of peacemakers work together to undo structural oppression at both the personal and community level? Do they have fun?
We explored these questions with Christian Peacemaker Team’s new executive director Sarah Thompson and assistant director Tim Nafziger. A conversation that shared about the way sacred power, community, and solidarity sustain their work with CPT.
They told stories from CPT’s work in Iraqi Kurdistan, Colombia, Palestine and with First Nations communities on Turtle Island and explore the way their faith as Mennonites has brought them to this work. CPT is an international organization full of people committed to building partnerships to transform violence and oppression. CPTers come from many faiths, national, ethnic, sexual, and age backgrounds. They go only where they are invited with extensive training and rooted learning.
